The first Italian museum devoted to the Neapolitan tenor

The Museo Enrico Caruso was established in 1995 at the request of the City of Lastra a Signa as the first museum in Italy devoted to the life and art of the tenor from Naples.

The exhibition is arranged inside the 16th-century Villa Bellosguardo, purchased by Enrico Caruso in 1906 then refurbished to become the house where he would spend the rest of his life with his muse, Ada Giachetti, and their children.

The collection is displayed in nine rooms, each having a specific theme, and comprises some of Caruso's personal belongings (post cards, letters, photographs, period pieces, sacred images and drawings) and items relating to his performances around the world (objects used on stage, reviews, photographs of the tenor wearing opera costumes, gifts received from European monarchs and from his colleagues and 78rpm records of his performances).

Visitors can meet the artist by using the traditional or interactive multimedia technology at their disposal.
